Driving in Japan: Licensing Requirements
To rent and drive one of our open-top cars around Mount Fuji, Japanese law requires specific driving documentation. Because local regulations are incredibly strict, we must verify your documents before we can hand over the keys.
Verifying your paperwork ahead of time ensures you are legally cleared to drive, keeps our fleet insurance fully valid, and guarantees a smooth, worry-free checkout on the day you arrive.

Your country must be a party to the 1949 Geneva Convention . Review the full list below to ensure your country or territory is included:

Note: Your IDP booklet must explicitly state it was issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention . Booklets issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention or digital licenses are not valid in Japan.

Note: This must be officially issued by the JAF (Japan Automobile Federation) or your country's official embassy in Japan.

Other Countries
If your country or region is not listed (such as Mainland China, Indonesia, Brazil, or Mexico), your local driver's license or domestic IDP cannot legally be accepted for driving in Japan under current traffic laws.
⚠️ CRITICAL IDP CHECK: Please look closely at the front cover of your International Driving Permit before you travel. It must explicitly print the phrase: "Convention on Road Traffic of 19 September 1949" . Japan strictly rejects the 1968 booklet format.
