Can you legally drive in Japan?
This is the most important step. Japan does not accept digital licenses or photos — you must carry the correct physical documents.
Requirements depend on the country that issued your license. Some drivers need an International Driving Permit (IDP); others need an official Japanese translation of their license.

If you arrive without the correct documents, we are unable to hand over the car, and only 50% of your payment can be refunded.
Age & experience: Japanese law allows driving from age 18, but we require every driver to have held a valid driver's license for at least 1 year as well. This is our own safety policy — our cars are rear-wheel-drive convertibles, traffic keeps to the left, and the lakeside roads are narrow.

Pickup, return & free transfers
We offer free transfers to and from Kawaguchiko Station.
Hotel transfers are also available — free within our local zone.
You'll be asked about transfers during booking, so please have your hotel name ready if you need one.

Please return the car to the same location by the end of your rental period.
If you rented an ETC card, hand it back at the desk. Please allow a few extra minutes while we read off the tolls and settle them.

Costs that may apply
Your rate already includes comprehensive insurance. The following are charged separately only if they apply:

Fuel: Return the car with a full tank. If the tank is not full at return, a ¥6,000 refueling fee will apply.

Non-Operation Charge (NOC), in case of accident or damage:

¥20,000 if the car can still be driven back to us

¥50,000 if the car needs towing

Tolls: Not included. You pay for the roads you use. An ETC card is available for ¥1,000 per rental — see Tolls & ETC in the FAQ.
