Yes. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your pickup time. A 50% cancellation fee applies for cancellations made 24–48 hours before pickup. Cancellations within 24 hours of pickup, or no-shows, are non-refundable. In the rare event that we must cancel your reservation due to severe weather (e.g., heavy snow, typhoon, road closures) or other unforeseen circumstances that make the rental unsafe or impossible, a full refund will be issued.

They can’t be booked as a separate 6- or 8-hour rental. Our 6-, 8- and 24-hour rates are for rentals booked in advance, and each car’s schedule — inspection, cleaning and the next guest’s pickup — is planned around the booked return time.If you think you may need more time, booking a longer plan or adding an extra day when you book is usually the better value, and keeps the car reserved for you.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer rentals from mid-December through the end of February. The exact dates are shown in the booking calendar.During this period, roads in our area can freeze. Ice forms on bridges and in shaded spots even when the rest of the road looks clear, so it is easy to drive onto it without warning.The Mazda Roadster is a low-clearance, rear-wheel-drive sports car, and it has limited traction on slippery surfaces. On icy roads, that makes it harder to drive and raises the risk of losing control. Its low body also sits close to the road, where snow and ice can strike the underside of the car.We would rather pause rentals than send you out on roads this car isn’t built for. For your safety, we suspend rentals during this period.

Drivers must be at least 18 years old and have held a valid driver's license for at least 1 year. The 1-year requirement is our own safety policy — our cars are rear-wheel-drive convertibles, traffic keeps to the left, and the lakeside roads are narrow.

Yes. If more than one person may drive during the rental, all potential drivers must be registered at pickup, and each must present their own documents (driver's license, and passport / International Driving Permit if applicable). Only drivers registered at pickup are permitted to drive — if an unregistered driver operates the vehicle and is involved in an accident, insurance coverage will not apply, and the customer will be fully responsible for all resulting costs.

However, all of our vehicles are Automatic Transmission (AT). We want anyone who dreams of a fun, immersive driving experience against the backdrop of Mount Fuji to be able to jump in and enjoy it without worrying about a stick shift.Staffing & Logistics: To keep our operations running smoothly, our team needs to be able to handle any vehicle at a moment's notice — whether that's delivering a car, moving it for maintenance, or assisting you on the road. Finding staff with manual licenses has become increasingly difficult.Market Availability: Manual cars are becoming rare. Today, only about 1.5% of all new cars sold in Japan are manual. Furthermore, roughly 68% of new drivers in Japan now opt for an "Automatic-Only" restricted license. By keeping our fleet automatic, we ensure that our entire team can support you instantly if anything happens on the road, while opening up the joy of driving these spectacular routes to everyone! This also means an Automatic-Only license is all you need to drive with us.

Yes. We store suitcases and bags at our office free of charge, and you collect them when you return the car. They can ride with you on your transfer to the station or your hotel. The Roadster’s trunk fits two small carry-on bags at most, so larger luggage is best left with us.However, please note that we cannot take your luggage to your hotel while you are out driving, and we do not arrange luggage shipping to any destination. If you need your luggage transported, please make your own arrangements.

Rentals proceed rain or shine — the soft top keeps you dry and the car handles well in wet conditions. Please return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. If the vehicle is returned without a full tank, a ¥9,000 refueling service fee will be charged.

If the vehicle cannot be used for business due to an accident, damage, or soiling during your rental, a Non-Operation Charge applies in addition to any repair costs: ¥20,000 if the vehicle can be returned under its own power¥50,000 if towing is required

Please let us know as soon as you know you’ll be late. Another guest may have booked the car right after you, and hearing from you early lets our team rearrange the car’s preparation — inspection and cleaning — and the next guest’s pickup. If the car is returned after the scheduled return time, a late fee of ¥3,000 is charged for each hour or part of an hour. If you contact us before your scheduled return time and the car is available, we can treat it as an extension instead (see “Can I extend my rental?”).

If you're staying around the lakes, you probably won't need it. If you're running out to the coast, or over to Kofu, you probably will.ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) is Japan's automatic toll system. A small IC card slots into a reader on the dashboard, the barrier reads it as you roll through, and the tolls are recorded instead of paid at the booth.It is not a credit card, and it is not Suica or PASMO — transport IC cards do not open a toll gate.You don't strictly need one. But a growing number of interchanges have gone ETC-only — on the Chuo Expressway, Katsunuma and Kofu-Minami both switched in spring 2026. Without a card you pull into the support lane, stop, and settle it over an intercom with a member of staff. If your route uses an expressway, the card takes that away.

¥1,000 per rental, tax included — a flat fee, not a daily one. Request it when you book, or ask at pickup. The tolls themselves are charged at cost. We total them when you return the car, and you settle by credit card at that point.

No. A toll gate reads an ETC card and nothing else — an overseas credit card, a debit card or a transport IC card will not open the barrier.If you already hold a Japanese-issued ETC card, bring it. An ETC card works in any car's reader, so yours will work in ours.

Most of the scenic toll roads in this region sit outside the ETC network: Fuji Subaru Line (Mt. Fuji 5th Station) — cash only. No ETC, no credit cards, no electronic money.Izu Skyline — cash. ETC and credit cards are not accepted.Turnpike Hakone — uses ETCX, a separate service that requires membership registered in advance. A rented ETC card will not work there.ETC works on the NEXCO expressways: the Chuo, Tomei, Shin-Tomei and the Higashi-Fuji-Goko road. Plan on cash for the mountain roads.
